wind sucks

YUCK! I can't stand the wind! It was windy when we started out, but it wasn't a horrible run until we turned south on Main Street. THEN, the wind was awful and cold. Bleck! Seriously, no fun. For the last 1.5 miles, we would "run" a block and then have to walk. It was sooooooo nasty. An hour later, I'm still not warm.

Fodder for the feet

34* feels like 24* - but I knew that I should have left my jacket at work. It was off before mile 1 was completed. Today's run was a bit slower, but now poor Carol is trying to kick that nasty cold that I had last week. What a pain in the ass that thing is. We did the downtown loop and just walked when we wanted and talked the entire time. New assignments at work tend to give a lot of running dialogue - especially when you're the person being reassigned. Temporary, true, but still - a lot to digest in a short amount of time with a LOT of expectations riding on the whole thing. Exciting (and a little scary), but it kept us moving this morning.

I really am working hard!

It's a wonder that I could run at all after today's weight class. She is really working us hard. Or, actually, I should give credit where it is due - **I** am working **MYSELF** hard. I can see the benefits of this class - literally, I have biceps that I can see now. I like this class, and I'm pretty decent at it. My weights have increased since starting nine months ago from 5lbs (each hand) for almost every exercise to 12lbs (each hand) for 3/4 of the exercises. Of the sets that I don't use the 12lb weights, I use 7lbs (this is usually shoulder work). I'm trying to push myself in each class. (I need to do more core work to really strengthen that up.)
Anyways, after weight class, we usually just do a 3-miler because we need to get back to work. Today was no different. I ran the 3 miles with absolutely no walk breaks or stops for lights. It felt good except for the last six blocks. They seemed to go on forEVER.

if not for a good friend...

If Carol had begged off today, I would have wimped out and just started working. Instead, she was excited for the run which means that I had to drag my sorry ass out the door and get moving. I'm glad that I did - of course - I always am. For an hour, my head was cleared of this sinus crap, and I could breathe. Ahhh... It was a long run - I think mostly because I'm tired and feeling wiped out - but we still maintained a good pace regardless of the many walk breaks. I whined about my sad life, you know, the discrimination, the lack of equal rights and benefits, blah, blah, blah, and true to form, Carol listened and provided a much needed sounding board like all best friends will.

another cold - seriously.

Today's run was solo, and it was HARD to get myself out the door. I have somehow caught a cold - REALLY? - and I'm just tired. After weight class, I was wiped out and just not feeling it. I was even light headed at times! However, my symptoms are all above the shoulders, so I didn'thave a great excuse to bag the run. I did it, and now I'll move on. I may use an entire box of tissue today, but whatever gets me through the day, right?

blah to the nth degree

After weight class, I didn't have the energy to put on my pants, so I ran in my shorts. It was cold, but at least I ran. I ran all over industrial SoSaLa, and it was really not that exciting. I didn't really want to be out there, but I need the miles. Of course, I'm glad now that I got those measly 3 miles in, but otherwise: blah. I'm just tired and ornery today (probably a good thing I was running by myself). I need sleep and iron.....
THEN - when I got back to work, I fell UP the stairs - right in front of two people. It's bad enough when you do it and nobody can see, but.... Come on!

tired

OK - not as bad as I expected. We walked a lot today. Both of us are TIRED, and the run just felt off. Whaddya' gonna' do? Well, you're just going to freakin' run, dig through it, deal with it, move on.

it's been so long that I forgot my watch

After a weekend of being busy and sick and whatever, and a day at work too busy for a run, I finally got out the dor with Carol this morning. I forgot my watch, so we watched my phone. We took a lot of walk breaks. We got stopped by almost every single red light. I talked a LOT. Nice run - bad pace - don't care. It was fun, nonetheless. It started to snow at the end of the run. Sadly, it hasn't continued or stuck to the ground.

another bleck day

UG! Another day like yesterday. Usually after yoga, I feel loose and OK to run. Today, my legs felt like bricks and it wasn't until I was almost done with my run that I finally started to work out of the funk that was clouding my brain. It was just a strange run. Carol also didn't feel fantastic. We just slogged it out. It wasn't pretty, and it wasn't fun, but it's three miles closer to my goal of 1200 miles for the year.

Very UN-

Not a stellar run. Before the first mile was done, both Carol and I were lamenting on how UN- we were. UN-prepared, UN-happy, UN (NON)-hydrated, UN-motivated, UN-enthused. Then, we decided to add seven more miles of UN-joy to the run because we need the miles. So, not only was it UN-fun, it was also UN-fast. Whatevs. Tomorrow is another day.

Weight class is killing me.... (fine - I'm over-dramatizing)

UG! I've said it before, and I'll say it again: Our weight class instructor is evil.
And, by "evil" I mean that she works us out really well, I am stronger than I've probably ever been, I keep going back for more, I'm disappointed when I'm not stiff the next day, and I actually have defined biceps now. BUT, during the workout as I am dripping sweat all over my mat and wanting to curl into the fetal position and cry, she is not my favorite person. I don't know how she comes up with new and improved ways to torture us, but she does.
Anyway, today's short run was the longest short run I've had in a long time. It just never seemed to end, and my legs felt like stumps full of sand.

blah...

This wasn't a difficult run for me, but Carol battled nausea for much of the first half. Therefore, we took it a bit slower than usual, but that was just find since we both had a lot of catching up to do. We talked for the entire run. It was nippy (26*), and I'm a bit chilled right now, but I'm glad that we got out and got it done. Tomorrow will be a good run if we can both (especially Carol) get some better rest tonight. The five beers that I had for the Superbowl yesterday were wasted on a boring game and the first I've had in weeks and weeks, so they are still sitting poorly with me. I'm not sick, but more bleck/blah/meh. I felt that way all night and was awake/asleep/awake/asleep for hours.

a quickie before doing some good

I was just trying to get some miles in before answering phones for the Huntsman Cancer Foundation/KUBL 93 Radio-thon. It was cold, and I wasn't familiar with the area, so I just ran up State Street and back. Nothing exciting, and it was very short.

Meh...

Nothing exciting to report here. We just did it. Yoga was good, but the run was just mediocre.
